Could someone please help me choose a color to paint front doors and steps of a red brick house w/white trim??

The house is red brick, trim is white and has white shutters, and has two front doors with concrete steps. I'm painting the steps and front doors and plan to leave the house trimmed in white.Could someone please help me choose a color to paint front doors and steps of a red brick house w/white trim??
I'd try to match the brick color for the steps, then paint the door the same color or stick with the white.Could someone please help me choose a color to paint front doors and steps of a red brick house w/white trim??
we also have a red brick with white trim...when we did the doors i actually matched the door color to my inside wood trim (we have the very wide original trim in our 100 plus y/o home) so the new door is a wood look and it looks like it's always been there...my worry was that a new door would look new on our very old house.
I'd do the stairs the brick red color, you want the door to be a contrasting color, perhaps a heritage color green or shibui color (almost black, drk brown) Mink for door and storm for cement... add a couple of potted evergreen trees by each side of the door.

A nice subtle yellow might look nice
I would paint the door a hunt green or british racing green semigloss or black. Only problem with green door is a Christmas wreath will vanish on it. Also a copper-patina green--ask at the paint store--would be classic and is excellent with a brick color. Steps should look like stone, so try a grey or cream cement paint. Match the paint to your brick mortar so it matches something. You may ask about adding sand to the paint for texture, but it may wear off the heavily used center of the step if it is a used entrance so maybe texture on the side areas and plain on the step part..
Black or navy blue would look good.

I think a green, like ';gecko'; (# 6719) would contrast the red brick beautifully.

Well, in a bedroom you may want to choose a cool color such as blues or greens as those are soothing and restful, colors like bright reds, yellows and oranges are striking but can be energizing. If you do want to go with something like a bright red then pick one or two walls and do just those walls. Avoid to dark of a shade as dark colors shrink spaces. Apartment hunting one time, I found a room that had a black ceiling, it made the room look tiny. Another good idea is to go to the paint/hardware store and look through the brochures they have with the paint chips, sometimes you can get a really good idea from that. Take your favorite color, and then put different shades of it for each wall. For example, in my room, I have the wall with my door dark green, the sides palish green, and the side with my window in between.

We are moving into a house that has 2 extra rooms, and both rooms are painted girl colors.?

We have a boy and we wanted to paint one of the rooms a boyish color, they wont let us paint it because its custom painted, hand painted with a sponge. I respect that, but can anyone else help me figure out how to decorate the room so my son has a boyish looking room, I have heard maybe I can hang bed sheets the color I want over the walls, but thats probably tacky.... PLEASE HELP!!!We are moving into a house that has 2 extra rooms, and both rooms are painted girl colors.?
Let him cover the walls with posters of the things he likes. We are moving into a house that has 2 extra rooms, and both rooms are painted girl colors.?
You can find some cotton material that you like, fold it in quarters then lay it in a tray. Use liquid starch and wet the material well. Do not wring material, more like squeeze out excess starch. Now spread material over the wall, use your hand or a soft brush to smooth the material out. Let it dry before you trim off excess material. When you get ready to move just peel material off of the wall and wash. You can rinse the wall lightly if you think you need to:~) The material needs to be 100% cotton to work
Why can't you paint in your own house? I am not getting that. Is it because it's a rented house? If so, then don't paint. If you bought the house, paint the rooms however you feel like.
you use the girl room, and have him use yours
There's no reason, you can't repaint, before moving in.

I suggest a light blue of some kind, with dark blue stripes.

Perhaps white ceiling with glow in the dark decorations.
Well you didn't specify what color the walls actually are...but you can buy peel n stick wall decals and borders that are more boyish in theme. Maybe you can work the color into some kind of decorative scheme.
dont know why u wrote this in food but if u bought the house u can do whatever u want to it once it is yours if your renting ask them becuase they should understand its a boys room and if all else fails hang sheets on the wall (kinda like wallpaper)
Posters on the walls and models like airplanes, motorcycles, cars hanging from the ceiling or sitting around on furniture might help. How old is the boy? Is the ';boyish'; room to please him or you? It might help you get better recommendations if you post a little more detail.

    Bert
Use screens around the room and add various different coloured accessories.
And this is in Cooking %26amp; Recipes - Why!?!?!

You don't say what colors the rooms currently are. If not pink, but more of a purple or something like that, then black accessories and pillows could blend. Or a lot of dark navy or dark green. You really should give us more info to try to help you.

What type and color of paint is best for the inside part of a crockery cabinet?

So in your kind opinion which color suits best there? And what kind of paint shall i use there??What type and color of paint is best for the inside part of a crockery cabinet?
I would paint it an off white..looks good with all woods, shows off everything well because it is neutral, and will match any wall colour around it. I am a painter and would say definitely go with a neutral off white in the tones opposite color of the dishes, this will accent them. If they are green go in the red tones etc. But have you ever looked at some of the removable contact paper. It might be a great look for a background, some even have texture for something more interesting, easier to do and then you can change easily later if want. Good luck!
Use a latex paint in a satin gloss. What color are the objects you are putting in the cabinet? If they are basically blue...paint the inside (back only not sides) yellow, not too bright.

On the same site there are many Benjamin Moore paint colors featured. There is also a ';Design Your Bedroom'; tab that allows you to choose the bedding you want and then try different colors on the walls to see how they look. There are many colors in their selection that would look good with this set, it all depends on what look you are going for. Here is what I found:

Lighter choices: Blue Allure or Decorators White or Shades Spring - these are very matchy

Deep Rich Colors: Chili Pepper or Graphite - dramatic

Medium Shades: Buxton Blue or Whipple Blue or Shaker Beige - these go well but are a little more creative.

Any suggestions on color to paint kitchen with tans and browns?

We are remodeling and bought marble brownish countertops and similar colored vinyl floor tile. Me and husband both disagree on the best color to paint the entire kitchen which would include the cabinet doors. Our trim will be white. We are going to use silver hardware for the cabinets. I say some shade of green, and he thinks some shade of blue.Any suggestions on color to paint kitchen with tans and browns?
I won't give you a specific color, but I will suggest some parameters of color theory that might help you both come to a decision, or make sense of colors that you 'feel' might look right.

Brown is somewhere in the middle of the color wheel. Made of a mix of colors from opposite colos traveling towards each other. for example green + red = brown.

Try to analyze your current browns to see where on the color wheel they might have originated. You can also compare it to other browns and might find yourself saying 'our countertop seems like it has an undertone of orange, even though it is brown'.

In that case pick something either very close by on the color wheel like an amber, or go diretly across the color wheel to some kind of blue color.

This is how you come up with a complimentary or analagous color scheme. It's definitely a bit more science-y, but it might help you understand better why you feel more right on with one color more than another.

Here is a color wheel and color scheme guide from Behr that should be very helpful. Good luck!!

http://www.behr.com/behrx/inspiration/ar鈥?/a>Any suggestions on color to paint kitchen with tans and browns?
I would suggest a light coffee and cream color on the walls. It goes with just about anything and is very appetizing.

For the cabinets, have you thought about painting the upper cabinets one color and the bottom cabinets a different color? Or if you have any island paint it a different color?

We painted our cabinets white and added wainscoting to the ends. One of the best decisions we ever made! We also have brushed silver knobs and drawer pulls.

With the dark sounding countertop and floors I would suggest a lighter color, at least on the top.

You could paint the upper cabinets white and the bottom cabinets a dark navy blue. With the coffee walls and brownish countertops it would look very classy.

I would upload a picture for you if it were possible.

    Good luck!
Had a blue kitchen but it just didnt seem kitcheny. I dont know why but I felt the blues belonged more in a bedroom. I like bright colors in a kitchen so I would go with shades of green. Myself, I am a traditionalist...yellow kitchen with bright farmhouse borders and stainless steel pots on the wall. With your colors, a nice bright green would look great.
There are blue-greens you could look for. Also some greens go gray so really look at the paint chips inside your home in the daylight. Any light fixtures inside the house will turn the color into something other than the true color. Also countertops will reflect color onto the walls as well as the floor covering.
orange. Zing it up a bit
    BEIGE!
You should paint the walls in a pastel yellow.

If you use a dark one than the room will seem to dark.

Add some small green plants with cream colored flower pots.

Then you might want to add some decorative glass containers with sunflowers.
Compromise and paint the walls a rich teal/aqua color. Teal will go really well with your countertops and floor tile and the white trim will really pop off of the teal.
I say a warm neutral, like ';twilight gray'; by sherwin williams:

  • I need to make the texture and color of paint without actually wasting paint?

I'm am doing a project for my photography class. I need to take buckets of ';paint'; and pour them onto people. I was think water and cornstarch with dye colors but I'm not sure if there is a better way. I wont actually be painting anything just pouring. I want it to be safe for my skin and eyes. I need it to be washable and able to come out of clothes. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thank you.I need to make the texture and color of paint without actually wasting paint?
Safe for your eyes and skin but what about them?

Just use milk (reg, low fat, soy, goat, it doesn't matter) thickened with cornstarch. Then take the image into an image editor like Photoshop and change the colors of the milk. You can create a mask, copy it to a layer then tint it to any color, adjust the transparency, contrast and saturation.

Don't use dyes or you will ruin everyone's clothing.

I want to paint my house, but can't decide what color? Can I preview some colors with a pic?

Go to a home improvement store. Some stores have displays that allow you to look at paint colors under different lighting styles. It is handy when painting the outside of the house because you can see how the paint color will really look in the sun or under florescent lights.

Also check this out... It might help you with a good starting place...

What colors do you mix together to make burnt orange? Does anyone know where I can pick up Burnt orange paint?

Have you tried Home Depot, Lowes, Sherwin Williams or ANY paint store???

Good Luck! What colors do you mix together to make burnt orange? Does anyone know where I can pick up Burnt orange paint?
My friend, I've been buying paints for my art for many years and I don't ever remember seeing a color on the shelves called 'Burnt Orange.' I'm sure there is such a color because that is the school color of such teams as the Texas Longhorns. But as an artists' color I don't remember ever seeing any. However, there is a shade of Orange, called 'Orange Oxide' that is as close to burnt orange as you'll find without having to make your own. Try looking for Orange Oxide the next time you're in an art supply store or go on-line and search the art stores on-line.What colors do you mix together to make burnt orange? Does anyone know where I can pick up Burnt orange paint?
    try home depot.
i know you mix yellow and red paint to make orange, but burnt orange maybe add a little brown paint to it to make it darker or you can find it at any craft store even walmart has an arts and craft section if you don't have a arts and craft store nearby. my husband is a fan of the longhorns too he is from texas! but we don't live there
I would try cadmium red, cadmium yellow and a bit of burnt sienna. Try an art supply store for the paint.
The primary colors of Red %26amp; Yellow mixed together make orange, add a bit of black or white %26amp; it changes the shade to colors such as burnt orange. Look in the yellow pages for art supplies or go to any chain store like Walmart (not to promote this store) %26amp; they usually have a section in the craft supplies area or stationary area. Good Luck
A longhorn fan, eh? heh heh
I would say brown and orange.
    Red, Brown and yellow
You're safe following the answers you just got before me. No need to attempt to look for Burnt Orange paint. It's not commercially available anywhere in the world. Mix it yourself.
You can mix yellow and red to make orange and add brown or black to make it burnt orange
Although adding brown to orange seems like the logical way to drab bright orange and make it ';burnt'; it may actually create a muddy and unattractive color depending to the recipe used to make the brown. You're better off using the opposite color to orange (on the color wheel) to drab it, which in this case would be blue. Use very very small amounts til you get the desired darkening.

This works as a way to darken any color . You can make you own basic color wheel by divide a circle into 6 pie shaped sections. Color one true blue, skip a space, color is true red, skip a space, color the third true yellow. Then on the white spaces in between, blend the two colors next to it to make the secondary colors.

But where to buy your paint is a much more difficult question since you don't say what type of paint you are looking for. If you live in a college town, their book store may have art supplies at an affordable price. There are also, on the east coast anyway, art stores such as Dick Blick, AC Moore's and Michael's which will have a variety of paints - fabric, oil, watercolor, acrylic and craft paints designed for almost any substrate. And of course, there are hundreds of online suppliers for craft supplies. Even Dick Blick has an online presence.

Any of the home improvement stores and name brand paint stores will custom blend colors for you. They have dozens of paint samples for you to pick the color you want and some have computers which allow color matching to other items, such as a pillow. Most will even mix colors in as small an amount as a pint, although gallons are much more common. The home/house paints come in latex, alkyd and oil bases.

Yellow is fine as long as you pick a tone of yellow that coordinates with your other items. A muted country or colonial yellow would probably look outdated. Black and bright yellow go well together and tend to look more modern (depending on what else you put in the space). You can pick rugs and window curtains with those color combos in contemporary designs. Also, check your kitchen cabinet and drawer pulls. Those may need to be updated as well. Pick accessories that have these tonal elements and you should have a pulled-together look.
I don't think yellow is ever outdated. It goes with a lot of other colours, it's a good colour for a kitchen because it's bright and lively, and if you like it you should use it. The trick is to pick the right yellow for the effect you want. I just watched a fashion show news thing and one of the colours for clothes for summer 2009 was a marigold colour, and colour trends show that the strong warm yellows are considered fresh right now. Find a yellow that looks right with other things in the room that you can't change, and use that
A burnt orange also looks gorgeous against dark cupboards. I repainted my Dad's kitchen that colour and just loved it. I am thinking of redoing mine in that colour if I don't come up with anything else. It really was dramatic and he just loved it. His kitchen was a pale yellow before, that I too had done, but it had faded and didn't have the impact.
it depends on the rest of your colours but yes i think yellow is outdated unless its really intense. try deep red or even a light purple/lavender if you wanna be different. even hot pink could work depending on the room. for the love of good stay away from seafoam green :)
I like bright yellow, this could look really ';rich'; and dramatic. But a pale yellow definately is outdated. I like white/black/red combos. These look fantastic. But if the yellow is bright, try adding granny apple green as an accent color
    Hello,

i would choose any colour that would brighten up my mood when i cook..it's ok to pick yellow if u feel u could bring the sun into your kitchen while u're cooking.. :)

The mood really matters when we cook right?

u're the one who could jazz up your own kitchen..!
I just did mine in a vibrant green,my cabinets are brown and my appliances are black.Added accents of chocolate, black and green. I love it. If you have the time, use the link below with different colors and in different settings.
What about robin's egg blue? It's a bright and vibrant color to add some pop yet it is modern.
what color are you cabinets and countertops?

Pear is in but it only goes well with black cabinets.

How and what color to paint house that has like older tiles on it, dont know if its abestos or not?

Whatever color you want. Brush and roller. Yes, it's asbestos.

Places such as Home Depot, lumber yards, paint shops, etc. have 8'x4'panels that are already covered with paint or wall paper. Put these in front of the painted walls. We are moving into a house that has 2 extra rooms, and both rooms are painted girl colors.?
well if it is a rent house i guess just respect the fact that they dont want you painting over it.. but if you are buying the house it is your house and you can do whatever you want to it..

but what you can to is get posters of things your son likes and cover the walls that way.

    thats a pretty good idea.
yikes! A paint job whether custom painted or not over a period of time needs to be redone. most anything you did to cover it up would damage the walls or the paint. You could just use masculine assessories and possible the color will fade into the back ground. Or talk to the landlord and try to get him to let you repaint the room, you'll be paying the rent and living there, not him.
are you renting or buying? because if you are buying you should be able to do whatever you want.
    Posters.

Hang them with tack putty, so no holes are made in the wall.

Too bad your landlords are such butts.
I live in a rented place and I painted w/o permission! but dont do that!

I have seen a lot of wall murals that stick to the wall and can be peeled off easily. You can do an ocean theme or race car, there's probably a lot out there.

    Research stick on wall murals.

    don't use the sheets.

-or I believe they make wllpaper now that peels off rather easily too.

Does anybody know if they make an oak color paint, not a stain, but a paint?

Sherwin WIlliams has a color called ';quartersawn oak'; (# 2836) that might be what you're searching for.

http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/Does anybody know if they make an oak color paint, not a stain, but a paint?
I think that any color which looks ';oaky'; will be a disappointment to you because you will have to understand that oak has a grain which is very pronounced and is what is beautiful about it and....paint is flat, monochromatic and uniform. No matter what color you choose, it will never approximate the feeling of the oak because oak is about line, movement and texture and paint is not. That said, borrow a fan deck from your local paint store, take it home and back away from the oak you're trying to match by about 8-10 feet. At this distance, take out your fan deck and look for a color which looks like the oak you're trying to match. Do this at the 8-10 foot distance. Your eye wants to see an ';optical blend';, at this distance it will take the light, medium and dark parts of the wood and blend it into a tone which will become easy to see when you compare it against the offerings on your fan deck.

What light paint color goes well with an accent wall of Restoration Hardware (RH)'s Blue Sage Paint?

I have an accent wall in my bedroom I want to paint RH Blue Sage because that goes well with the beddings I got from them in Eucalyptus. I can't think of what colors to paint on the other 3 walls. I tried Silver Sage but it looks minty on my wall. Maybe something beige? Any ideas? What light paint color goes well with an accent wall of Restoration Hardware (RH)'s Blue Sage Paint?
First of all, I would not get Restoration Hardware's paint, everybody I know who have used it have said it's awful. You can take the little sample to a paint store and get it color matched (Behr, Sherwin Williams, that kind of paint).

As for color, you could try getting a a really soft beige, with a hint of yellow to it. What would also look nice (from the name Blue Sage, I'm assuming it's a lighter color), is to paint two opposite walls in the blue sage, and then the two other walls in the beige. I did that in my bedroom with my color scheme and it looks great.

    Good luck!

I would do a khaki or light brown.
I have a plum couch, mahogany cabinet and light pine tables. I just went with a glidden color called Pepper Spice and LOVE it. Its a medium to dark chocolate color and really enhances all the colors already in my room.
    Hello,

I love the colours turquoise and brown together. These are colours I use on my website home page.

Depending on where your couch is situated, you could paint an accent wall in the turquoise colour and the other walls in the butter colour of your couch. You could also use the cocoa colour instead and that would look great as well. Make sure you have lots of light in the room though is you are going to use such a dark dramatic colour.

    Good luck.

OMG! I'm sorry I sound like a little girl but let me tell you! I was visiting my Aunt in Boston and she JUST painted her living room and she has butter-colored couches and a leather brown recliners, she's a Realtor and knows what's what in decorating. She went to her home depot and got this grainy color and put glitter in it. The texture is ACTUALLY sandy feeling and you have to put it on with a special brush but it's amazing. It was supposed to be eggshell but it turned out much darker to it looked awesome with her furniture. I don't remember the name but if you go to your HomeDepot or w.e store that sell paints ask for a paint that leaves your walls looking like the texture of staglamites. They'll show you a few colors and go with your instinct. I hope this helps!
I think cocoa will drown out the colors of the couch, dining table, and chair - not enough contrast.

Try aqua for walls, and add turquoise/butter/chocolate prints or paintings.

personally, i love silver with lavender.....

silver or light gray with lavender is a great contemporary look...depending on the age of your daughter

also a light tan color would work and wouldnt be such a bold statement
I really like monochromatic color schemes. Try lilac, royal purple, and other shades of purple.
Mint green ,turquoise, or taupe. Black or white goes with anything.
I would choose pinks and greens. Paint all with main color and then add small delicate flowers of pink, yellow, white possibly and add thin curly green stems. This is darling for a girl.
I麓d choose white furniture... It makes the room look ';lighter'; and goes with everything...

For bedspread, you can choose a lavender set, or a purple set, or even mix lavender and green, lavender and light yellow, lavender and turquoise... Take a look:

    Sherwin Williams' ';lime granita'; looks spectacular with dark lavender. The dramic contrast is lots of fun for a girl's room. On the other hand, if you prefer a more suble look, try ';inspired lilac.';

    Or if you're using a lighter lavender, then you might like a darker accent, like ';vesper violet.';
a light powder pink would be nice....even a creamy yellow....

When preparing to paint a house, what are some steps to be taken and what colors are best to pick when selling

To select the paint that will help sell your house, walk down a street of really nice houses that are higher priced than yours. Bring a paint sample book if you can. Try to approximate the colors you see on the higher priced homes. If some one is in the yard, be bold and ask them about their color. They will love the compliment.

Back at the paint store, don't mix up gallons at a time! Have them just mix up a quart of your body color and one of your accent color. Paint a test square on the BACK of the garage where no one can see it and cut in the trim color -- you'll be glad you did!

Real Estate Typhoon since 1986When preparing to paint a house, what are some steps to be taken and what colors are best to pick when selling
when selling a house you should choose light colors for painting, otherwise it'll look tacky and you won't get as many people who will want to look at the inside.

my realtor advised this to me when i sold my house.

light colors attract and dark colors recede (making a house look smaller) also.

best colors to choose would include white (a definite plus) or any beige color. (anything else would not be as attractive)When preparing to paint a house, what are some steps to be taken and what colors are best to pick when selling
Clean walls.Good primer.Spackle and sand the holes. Its best to appeal to the masses so paint all the walls a creamy white or light beige There is an excellent program on the hgtv channel called design to sell or go to www.hgtv.com and look up the program. They tell you everything you need to do to sell your home for a higher price
Neutral colors, adequate prep, commitment to detail and a finishing time, condition of the existing paint/siding, and many more.

    Rev. Steven
I always use the creed to not over do color and to stick to a two- or three-color palette and always have a neutral color like white, black, brown, or beige. Pick two complimentary colors for the best result. Also, think about your furnishings and artwork. If you have neutral furniture or wood, a little color on the walls would be good. If your furnishings have color, make sure your wall color agrees with them.

Remember that if you are selling your home, you don't want to paint loud color or something that is too specific to your belongings. Neutrals and soft shade help potential buyers to envision their belongings and furnishings in that space. Also remove all clutter and slim down the knick-knacks to provide a space that it is generic.
Don't go for bright, flashy colors if you are planning on selling the house soon (other people might not like it). Go with neutral tones that are sure to match almost any color of furniture because you can not know what color the buyers have in their deco schemes. If you are just painting the outside, look around and see what colors the houses are around you and try to stay along that line. Some people don't want a house that sticks out like a sore thumb. If doing the inside, neutral tones and maybe a little bit of bright color in the kitchen and bathrooms is always nice.

Im totly color blind!ok?so what if i mixed an equal share of primary colored paint.what color do i get?

your the expert i have to trust!so dont mix me up more in this cammaflageged world of colorIm totly color blind!ok?so what if i mixed an equal share of primary colored paint.what color do i get?
    you get secondary colors.

    blue plus yellow = green

    yellow plus red = orange

    red plus blue = violet

mix 2 parts of one primary to 1 part primary and you get tertiary colors

blue + blue + yellow = blue green

blue + yellow + yellow = yellow green

yellow + yellow + red = yellow orange

yellow + red + red = red orange

    red + red+ blue = red violet/purple

red + blue + blue = blue violetIm totly color blind!ok?so what if i mixed an equal share of primary colored paint.what color do i get?
Primary colours, as we all know, are red, blue and yellow. Any mixture of these two colours produce a secondary colour which are orange, green and violet. Let me make it easier for you:

    RED + YELLOW = ORANGE

    BLUE + YELLOW = GREEN

    RED + BLUE = VIOLET
The three primary colors are red yellow and blue. Mixing red and blue gives you purple. Mixing red and yellow gives you orange. Mixing blue and yellow gives you green. If you mix the three colors together you will have brown. Good luck.
it would not matter, whatever color you get it will be perceived as a shade of the color you can process (colorblind people usually see things a shade of one color [normally gray or blue])

stay with primary white and save some time

I just covered a cake in fondant before coloring the fondant. Can I paint on color?

    Please help!

I have gel coloring.I just covered a cake in fondant before coloring the fondant. Can I paint on color?
Sure, you can paint it afterwards. I did this cake that way: http://darkmindseye.deviantart.com/art/N鈥?/a> It was a white cake and then the red coloring was painted on with Americolor's super red.

I paint on fondant all the time, sometimes to give it a more realistic effect than I could otherwise...for example, when I make bamboo I use a light green fondant and then paint the finished pieces with ivory color thinned with vodka. Flowers look better when they're painted too.

Just thin your gel color with some vodka or clear extract (lemon, almond, clear vanilla, etc...) and paint with a large brush, like a basting brush but not the silicone kind.I just covered a cake in fondant before coloring the fondant. Can I paint on color?
i've have never tried it before but your suppose to dye the fondant before you cover the cake.

i see no harm in you paint the fondant, make sure its food coloring though. it may take a long time to soak in the color though...
If your quick you should be able to just peel it off colour it and lay it back on it may take some time but you should be able to do it if the fondant is still soft.
ypu can but it doesnt give a god effect. i did it with cookies once and they tasted ok but didnt look amazing.

How Should I Choose a Color to Paint my wainscoting in my bathroom?

We recently put wainscoting in our bathroom too and we just left it the way it was. It gave it this sort of beach like rustic look, I love it. If you really want to paint it then that would depend on the other colors in the bathroom. I'm assuming that the wainscoting is only at the bottom portion of the wall so what color is the top? If the top is just white I would actually suggest painting that instead of the wainscoting. How Should I Choose a Color to Paint my wainscoting in my bathroom?
Look a your floor. Pick a color close and a shade of two littler or darker depending and what you prefer. How Should I Choose a Color to Paint my wainscoting in my bathroom?
Wainscoting is typically white in a bathroom, with some kind of accent color on the walls (light green, light blue, tan, etc.). A white ceiling is also a nice touch.

However, my wife and I installed wainscoting in a powder room and she wanted a tropical motif. So, we painted the walls beige and she did a kind of streaky tan color on the wainscoting to make it look kind of like bamboo. Although, she did leave the rail and baseboard white. It came out looking pretty cool.

Wainscoting kits do come in a wood-look finish, too. But, those are better in something like a dining room. Otherwise, I wouldn't get too far away from a white wainscoting.

white with black is always outstanding, but you could go any soft color to keep from being overwhelmed in your small room...even peach.
First, shop for a new comforter/bedspread. Whatever you choose will decide the color for your wall. Pick out a color from it or a color that compliments it. Be sure to paint the ceiling and trim white and any color you choose will pop. It is easier to match to bedding than to match bedding to a wall color. Just be sure that you are picking something that you think you will like for several years. Your parents will be more likely to spend the extra if you choose wisely.

    Best wishes.
We have sage green on our walls in the bedroom, and I think your black furniture would stand out really nice with that. We also used a really bright white for the baseboards and closet doors/trim. You don't want to go too dark if your room is small, especially with dark furniture. Good luck, and have fun!

mix a LITTLE of the antique white (not a lot!) well into the brown, then squeeze burnt umber and mix well. if it's still too brown, squeeze a little more burnt umber and mix well. repeat until you get a burgundy that you like. remember that a little tint goes a long wayHelp with making a paint color?

I have blue curtains and the original color is white. My bed spreads are blue, purple, and white. My furniture is like a tan-like color with a little bit of brown.

I want the room to match my personality.

I'm an 18 yearold girl who is about to graduate from high school. (I plan to move out after college.)

I love music, video games, the internet, and singing

I dress like a girl but in a comfortable way. I don't like that much girly things. But I do wear make-up and fix my hair.

I'm an artist, as in a drawer. Not much of a painter.

I don't want any reds, blues, or pinks. I want my room to be girly, but not full on girly. If you have any ideas on how to design my room, like curtain changes or any wall design, then please tell me. If reds, blues and pinks are the only colors you can think of, then tell me. I'll find some way to work around it, or you can tell me how to work around it. Thanks.Which color to paint my room?
Sage green looks great with blues, purples and browns. It would pull them all together and give it a soft, yet not girly look. I would Go with a VERY light sage for the walls, and maybe ad a darker sage with some purple or lavender trim. This would be shnazzy with your bed spread and you would avoid the colors you do not like. Keep it bright and happy so your artistic side can shine through. You should stick with neutral and warm tones/colors. In this way, you are less likely to get sick of it so fast and it's easier to match things with. Plus, neutral colors never go out of style.
    Purple with yellow dots.
what about like a grey it's neutral OR like a lgiht light brown/khaki color if you do that maybe some animal print curtains (like black and a darker brown))that would look hot anything will go with those color walls...%26amp;%26amp; perhaps a girly curtain but simple....or a like pale light yellow.((if you use the grey)) sorry i couldnt help just an idea i came up with
    id paint it a lavender
I'd try going with a lighter purple color as some of the others have suggested, and then add some swirls or triangles (or other shapes) in a blue that matches the curtains/bedspread. Since you are good at drawing, it shouldn't be too hard to add the extra elements and then it will tie it together and it will make it a little 'girly' and choosing the shapes that you add in blue give you a chance to make the room match your personality.
Artist....Not too girly...stay with neutral colors.

I would do brown and khaki....or brown and blue...

pick a neutral but not white color for your walls...being an artist you want a light, not dark room.
Purple white and blue Camo. Trust me it will look Totally Artistic. I know Im 16 and I love doing art.
Well you are 18 and based on your your furniture lets take it from there....how about a cream and coca color room with black accents. You can use the white bed spread and buy some coca, cream and black pillows (new or used), maybe even some throw pillows with designs such as leopard print. Leave the walls white since you are not much of a painter and change the curtains to coordinate the bed such as black, cream or coca. The accent color around the room could be gold and sage green. All these colors are modern and takes you from the high school years to a little more grown up look. You do not need to spend alot of money as go to yards sales, etc. If you have things in your room that you can spray paint to coordinate then that will help too.
    give it a pinkish purple
purple at the bottom then oink at the bottom
    Hi,

My opinion is of painting the room with horizontal borders (about 4 inches wide) of green and shiny light green to break the monotony and to avoid it getting boring or you can use cream and red to give the room a warm look. You can also use vertical borders. For more ideas log on to

Which color paint would suit my walls, have a couch of chocolate& beige color combo& light brown hardwood flrs

please suggest, different color patterns, i would also try expereimenting with 2 diff colors pallette, one in each wall some thing like that.

below is the link to my couch and floor.

http://www.furniturexo.com/Logan-Stone-Sofa-Sectional-Ashley-Furniture-1940167-16-p-16974.html?cPath=31Which color paint would suit my walls, have a couch of chocolate%26amp; beige color combo%26amp; light brown hardwood flrs
How about painting using ';sundew'; by sherwin williams as your primary wall color, and then use ';olympic range'; as an accent wall. It will make the room look very welcoming %26amp; earthy.Which color paint would suit my walls, have a couch of chocolate%26amp; beige color combo%26amp; light brown hardwood flrs
I think you should think about a color for your wall in the beige tones. You don't want anything dark on your wall or your sofa would get lost and it would probably blend in with your sofa to much. I think the lighter shades with maybe a hint of brown in the color would work and put dark brown picture frames on your wall and you could even think about adding one wall dark brown and let the other wall have the beige color.

They say a dark room will make a room feel cozy so if that is what you are trying to get go for the dark drown color and put accent colors on your sofa to make the room pop or put multiple color pillows on your sofa.
sage green with a light beige trim color
I like what they did in the photo -- a neutral beige tone with a hint of sage green in it, and light beige trim. Of course that's according to that room. I don't know what else you have going on in the room, what kind of light you get, etc.

But the couch, though in shades of brown, is very bold. I'd keep the walls neutral.
BABY BLUE AND BROWN LOOK GREAT TOGETHER
I would really like to help you with your color selection but I would have to know what the size of the room is, is it well-lit, if you could include a pic of the room to be painted it would be easier to help.

So far.. I'm liking Notable Hue (blue) 6521 for the walls and Navajo White (cream) 6126 for the trim.
Foresty or sage greens could work. You might also try a shade of deep teal.
I would put dark green or dark red. both with beige trim.

What colors should I paint my room?

I don't want anything too bright but I want it to stand out. I'm a teenage girl. What colors should I paint my room?
    PLZ HELP!

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>What colors should I paint my room?
I'm personally a very girly girl. I love pink and my room is filled with pink, glitter-y, fluffy stuff. I recommend you do light pink wall base with hot pink stripes .These are the colors I'd use.

    Hot pink-http://images.netshops.com/mgen/swatch:M鈥?/a>

    Lighter pink-http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd259鈥?/a>
    light blue or light pink
Purple, but it would really depend on what's already in your room i.e. the color of your carpet, furniture and bedding. Try and use a color which don't clash with the rest of your things you already have.
my rooms lilac it looks really good or even light baby pink. :) x
whadabout lime green ? or pale blue .

    - when u choose a paint , it will usually always end up being darker than the shade its s'pose to be . so id say choose a color u want , but go a shade lighter .
    lime green!
pink and white, just like mine!

then have white accessorise, it looks awsome!
light purple and light green. ;)
dont go with all those gay colors like baby blue and pink...they're so generic your room will look like every other room in america...go with something more creative. use zebra pint on the walls or leopard print..some funky wall paper...just dont do what everyone else does.
you could always go with a neutral color and do stenciling in your favorite color.

    http://image0.etsy.com/il_430xN.25712792鈥?/a>
i like pink, blue and purple in a combo :)
    all black!
purple, and aqua, or purple and green.
Well it's your room so paint it what ever color you want. but if it were me i would do a white background then a bunch of dots in diffrent colors like green blue pink purple and all those colors or you could do a diffrent background color but that's what I would do!
i like baby blue and lime green toghther of baby blue and a soft pink
how about light green and pink?
Light yellow! It will make your room bright when the sun shines in (which will definitely boost your mood on those early winter mornings!)
    depends on your personality.

    http://ezinearticles.com/?What-Color-Should-I-Paint-My-Teen-Room?%26amp;id=1089914
    depends what colour you like!

if you have a small room i suggest light colours, pink, baby blue and what not.

but if you have a big room, go for dark colours, like red and such.

you can get away with it in a big room, if you have dark colours in a small room it will look crowded %26gt;D
White with some blue and pink designs- nothing too difficult.
wellllll, i would paint it lime green, light purple, baby blue, light pink and stuff like that but it depends on the colours u like ;)
When I was a teen, I went with lavender.

if you don't want anything too bright, I think you should look at the ';neutral'; colors like tans and lighter, kind of creamy colors. To brighten up the neutral color and make your room more personal, think of a color you really enjoy and pick a shade to compliment the more ';boring'; color.

For example, I really like the way light blue looks with a sand color..it reminds me of the beach. Use the neutral color to soften the room and the other color to add some attitude.

Don't paint all your walls the same color and you'll get a really neat appearance, making the room seem a little more spacious and less like a box.

Also, you could try a color visualizer, like the one on sherwin williams website here... http://www.sherwin-williams.com/do_it_yourself/paint_colors/visualizer/ It will help to give you ideas and a taste of what you can do to make a bedroom look bigger, brighter, and better!

Hope this helps! Good luck, and have fun with the remodel!
ohh i had the same problem a while ago. what i chose was ';poetry'; by general paint i think....... after they did it before they moved my furniture in i was like WOAH thats bright but once i moved all my furniture in it didnt look that bright it acualy looks really pretty now. (poetry is light blue.)
a light pink or just plain white
lightt green and pinkk FOO SHOOO
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think ';blissful blue'; (# 6527) would look fantastic.

    Paint colors.........?

I need a good paint color for my bedroom.

I'm doing glow in the dark lettering (for Bible verses)

and I need a base color.

    Thank You.Paint colors.........?
you could have one side of the bed room painted dark with the lettering on it. I don't think a full dark room would work well with the religion concept and its normally considered light (god, for instance walk to the light';) then have the light covering on that wall maybe even put your bed facing it so you can always read it.

    Good Luck. Paint colors.........?
Well, the base color I'm thinking the color of the walls and ceiling where the black color text will be, right? I recently had to think of a custom pencil design that a hypothetical priest of a local church might want so maybe the colors I chose will work for you too.

In keeping with the bible verses, I would try a white color (white for background color of bible pages with black text) or very light colored beige (it sorta looks like angel white but not that white) so when you look at the bible verses text, it'll feel like you're reading a huge bible on the wall in your room (I think this is the effect you're going for?). Very light colored blue/sky blue will also work.

The only issue is, it's glow in the dark green so not too many colors go well with that color since presumeably the area around the text is black (so I guess maybe still try using a light color paint but stick a low-level light source in the room so you can kinda see the paint color you ultimately pick, but not too power-consuming as this will raise your electric bill by quite a bit, heh).

    Hope this helps.

That would look awesome on a dark coloured wall but you don't want to paint the whole room in midnight blue or a moss green so maybe you can have an accent wall in one of those colours oruse one of those colours as a runner like a broad stripe across the wall right around the room then put them on there..would look great at night and cool in the day.
You definitely want to pick a color that will not blend in with the glow in the dark paint. Meaning noo light colors like pale pink..or very very light green, tan, or white..you want to go with dark colors such as black, brown, red, blue, purple, darker greens(even lime green would work well)..your going to want the verses to ';stand out' Hope i helped!

p.s: make sure that when u want the glow in the dark paint to ';glow';(ex: when you go to bed';)..make sure that you leave the light on in for a good amount of time so that the paint shows up well..just a tip for u :)
Try dark purple. Is this going on the walls or ceiling? I would do a 8-12 inch deep band of color next to the ceiling (like a border). That way it would be a real conversation piece without being over-the-top, in your face:) P.S. It should go all the way around the room for impact.
    ';I also have a black light that I might put on my desk so you can see the glow on the bark lettering.';

    - ROTFFLMAO! XD

What's a good color to paint a bathroom?

It has one small window in it. The rest of the house is beige except my room next to the bathroom which is a grassy green color. I want to stay away from beigeing my bathroom. HELPWhat's a good color to paint a bathroom?
depends on what you want out of the room. if you want it to be a relaxing place to take a bath, relax in the shower, go for a blue tone. if you're not a morning person and you want to get awakened in the morning and invigorated, go for a bright froggy green or a sunny yellowWhat's a good color to paint a bathroom?
Mine is white ...for one reason....I can change the decor whenever I want and to whatever I want and it always goes with the paint. Besides that it is a relatively small room and it makes it look much bigger.
A nice light blue would be nice if your set is white, maybe two tone blue. Medium light blue bottom, light blue, shoulder lenght up.
I just painted my half bath willow green (yellow green). Its a very pretty color!
Unless you are also changing the flooring and plumbing fixtures, I would coordinate with what you have. Pastels work well. You can also brighten up the room with a small picture or a poster.
I would say it depends on like how you're using it. I agree with the bright colors if you need to be woken up in the morning, lol. If you want something neutral, light pink and baby blue and green look nice. If you are going to be using the bathroom for relaxing and such, I would paint it a dark color, such as navy or burgandy, and set some candles around if you want a place to soak and unwind. :)
One of ours is turquoise feather dusted with red. It draws many complements.
I love spring green with bright yellow accents. It's really fresh, bright, and clean looking. It adds warmth to a bathroom too.
    Fixture color?
I think a spa like color would be good. Like maybe a soft blue. Not like little boy baby blue, like a light turquoise or something around there. Even a nice spring green would be good. Maybe a really soft green. Hope this helps.
terra cotta is a great color and works equally well with brass, silver or gold fixtures. My bathroom has silver so I feathered in silver starbursts on top the terra cotta and glued silver round bangles here and there in center of starbursts. everyone who sees it loves it because it is one of a kind. and the rest of my house is mostly green so it will go with your colors.
I would say yellow or white.
Sky blue or light green works well in bathrooms.
How about cream and sage green with maybe some peach items.
How about a soft or bright yellow with grassy green accents?

You could use a daisy print...

    [ shower curtain print, rug, sink tumbler/toothbrush holder/soap dish/jar. Add towels in yellow, green, or a print of both.}

Or, peach with grassy green accessories, etc.
    Yellow is always good

What is the best color to paint my kitchen?

I have two huge bay windows and hardly any wall space but it is blue right now. I am laying light wood floors and my cabinets are a dark walnt. Any ideas on color? My countertops are whiteWhat is the best color to paint my kitchen?
of course its a matter of personal taste, but blue is probably the least likely of all colors to look good with what you have (except for the white countertops which go with any color). The best visual harmony would come from using a color in the orange/brown spectrum. since you dont have an overwhelming amount of wall space and you have tons of natural light, I'd suggest going with a bold color. Use a color with a rich, spicy, warm tone. some great choices would be: cinnamon, nutmeg, mustard, burnt sienna, rust, brick, terra cotta, coral, saffron. These colors are all bold yet subdued enough to not have a jarring effect when used with white countertops.

for something a little less spicy and more monochromatic, go with a golden tan or wheat color.

for something with good contrast go with a sage green.

trim color could be either dark brown to echo the cabinetry; or ivory white to echo the countertops. Both ivory and dark brown will work with all the above mentioned colors.

accent colors could be black, dark chocolate, olive green, or any of the warm spice colors. What is the best color to paint my kitchen?
I just did mine in a sage green. I love it. It really makes the cabinets look rich.
Whatever color you choose keep it light so that the kitchen retains a homey happy atmosphere.

Try off white, eggshell, or any light pastel color that may be your favorite. Be subtle even a light tan shade will work. Seeing you will have to live with your choice, try small areas before committing.

Sounds like a fun project, Enjoy.
You have to look at this color so you are the best one to pick it not total strangers. But, find something you own, does not have to be kitchen related, that you love the color of and work with shade variations from that starting point, until you can decide. Hardware stores have a huge selection of paint samples to help you with this. Good luck!
A great way to pick color from home is at behr.com. They have all the colors and even show them in the space. You also can pick co-ordinating trim and ceiling colors. Many of the paint brands now have this tool.
i would go with a tan color!!
There is a color called chili that might just be what you are looking for. I can almost imagine it right in Your kitchen. Check it out at your local paint store. Try doing your trim and woodwork in a pure white. It will make your kitchen pop.
    Green , colour of freshness.
A Capaccino colour always looks lovely in the kitchen especially if you have stainless steel accessories. It will also tie in the two different colours of the cabinets and floor, will add contract with the countertops and is a trendy clean colour that people are using at the moment.

Im not sure what color to paint my walls in my bathroom.?

I just moved into a new house and my bathroom has a cream/tan color bathtub and sink. I'd like to be able to paint my walls a fun color but im not sure what would look good or match.Im not sure what color to paint my walls in my bathroom.?
I would use antique white or a light cream color, the bathroom is a room where you need plenty of light so you can see well for self examination for moles, bruises etc.Im not sure what color to paint my walls in my bathroom.?
I use repainted by bathroom, I used a color called ';New Brick'; it a red color, because i also have the cream/tan color bathtub and sink, with gold fixtures. My accent color I choose white for the baseboards and doors. My floor are cream/tan cereamic tiles. The red color with white accent is beautiful. Trust me on the one use your imigation. and have fun. If you don't like your first color you can always repaint it. Good luck
The site below is a site from Benjamin Moore paints. It let's you paint a room using the colors you select from the list. Click on Let's paint and go from there. It can give you good ideas on what you like and do not like before you buy.

If your room is small, keep in mind that dark colors will make it appear smaller.

Personally, I like a terra cotta/brownish color theme with the fixtures you already have in your bathroom (tan bath and sink). I'm actually in the process of redoing my bathroom and choosing new colors.

#2173-20 Tawny Rose and #1260 El Cajon Clay both from Benjamin Moore are on the dark side but your fixtures are light and could support the dark colors. Also, you could play around with the color theme and add wicker baskets to hold towels, magazines etc. Add a fun shower curtain to match. You could also make it a Mexican theme using the colors I mentioned by adding bright reddish and gold accents to tie it all together.

Whatever you do have fun. Redecorating is fun.

    rola
Don't be afraid to use dark colors in your bathroom. I bucked the ever growing trend of people avoiding using dark colors in small rooms and my bathrooms look awesome.

Cream and tan are neutral colors. You really could put almost any color you wanted with that color and it would go well.

My advice is to use contrasting colors. By that I mean, if you have mainly dark colored stuff in your bathroom, paint the bathroom walls a light color. If you have mainly light colored stuff in your bathroom (tan and cream fit into this category), then I'd recommend going with a darker color. However, tan and cream can go very well with light colors too.

The reason why I say to use contrasting colors is because contrasting colors will make each other stand out. For instance, in my bathrooms I have white toilets, white marble sinks, light colored natural oak cabinets, and chrome, porcelain, and nickel finished hardware on the walls (towel holders, toilet holders, door handle, etc). By having the walls a dark color, the hardware, sinks, cabinets, etc all stand out so your eyes focus on them. The contrast of the colors makes peoples' eyes focus on the items in the bathroom you want their eyes to focus on. If everything was say light colored throughout the bathroom your eyes wouldn't really pick up so much on the hardware and stuff. The room would be just one big blah or blob. In one of my bathrooms, I used a dark grey and have gotten tons of compliments on it. Contrast is the key.

Normally the same goes for me with walls and floor coloring. If you have light colored walls, use dark colored flooring. If you have dark colored walls, use light colored flooring. The contrast will make the two look good.
My advice is to do some web and retail shopping for beautiful towels and bath linens. When you see a color that appeals to you and looks good with your fixtures, use that as a guide for your paint or wall covering choice. Good quality towels will have richer colors from which to choose. Check out ElegantLinensPC.com to see some truly luxurious bath linens.
Paint it any color you want- blues, greens oranges work well in a bathroom because they remind people of water and sun.

';Interior decorators use three or four colors as a theme throughout a home. Theme colors used with repetition will unify the rooms of a house';.
My favorite way to pick colors is to visit new home models ,we have so many in my area .I get so many ideas. I even copied to the letter one I found . you can eighter stay with white walls and lots of color in the towels etc. or color in the walls and white in the towels I love earth tones so I use a lot of tan and blue and green . If you sew you can make a lot of things .Model homes have such beautiful bathrooms.

Need help choosing a color to paint living room.?

My living room is 24 by 12 so its long and not wide so it seems small. The floors are a light hardwood. The new curtains I bought are brown and the furniture is a light tan with the pillows having a abstract design and the colors are green and brown. The color on the wall right now is a darker tan on bottom and a lighter tan on top because there is molding. Im going for a more modern look so I would like a some what brighter color. thanks.Need help choosing a color to paint living room.?
I would recommend you take the green color from your pillow and choose that for your top color. If the green in your pillow is too bright of a green or too dark of a green, the sales associates at the paint store can help get a coordinating green for you (take your pillow with you so they can match it perfectly). On the bottom of the chair rail, I would recommend a brown that is similar in shade to your pillow as well. This will help tie your whole room together all thanks to pillows you chose with an abstract design! Actually, that is a good way to coordinate a room. You get a favorite painting (for example) that is in the room and use those colors to finish your room off. Good luck, I hope it turns out just as you hoped!Need help choosing a color to paint living room.?
It go with two different shade of beige. The lighter one the narrow walls, and the darker the wide walls. That way it will widen your room and flow with your other colors, You don't want your walls to stand out and over whelm your room either, so that would work. Also-do not paint the molding a different color that would just make the room more narrow and age the look.
To see some styles of painted rooms go to Lowes or Home Depots Home Centers Web sites and look for their Virtual Painting section. They give you a variety of different types of rooms: examples bedrooms, living rooms and kitchens.Select a room that fits your particular project and then you can select your colors that you like and the program allows you to apply these colors to the walls, ceilings and mouldings. This allows you to see what color combinations best suit your needs.

You can literally spend hours:

I think a color like ';aristocrat peach'; (# 0027) would give you just the color you need.
Paint the 12 ft. wall a darker green from top to bottom , like a bright lime green. It'll bring the wall closer, so the living room will appear to have a better proportion. The molding on the 24 ft. walls should be the same color as either the top or bottom since it is a stripe that makes the long walls seem longer.
I like the way a subdued pale aqua looks with brown and tan. Maybe to get a coastal feel in there, you can paint the bottom a pale aqua and the top a sandy color. Then, buy new pillows to go with that scheme.
Paint it a mellow colour that brings out wood trim/funiture

Can I paint a light color over deep red?

my living room is painted a deep red color.

Would it be very difficult to repaint it a lighter color? Can I paint a light color over deep red?
I think so. You will need to paint several layers of your chosen light color to cover the deep red.

But I think it will be easier if you paint it white first and then the color you want. Can I paint a light color over deep red?
It can be done, but it will take some time.

First, make sure your walls are absolutely clean. Dust them, and then wash them ... any dirt or residue will interfere with adhesion of the new paint.

Second ... VERY important ... you need to use a ';high-hiding'; primer. Don't use the cheapest brand of primer carried by the paint-store; rather, ask for a recommendation at the paint-counter ... be sure to tell the sales clerk that you are painting over DARK RED. You'll probably need 2 coats of primer to ensure that the walls are ';sealed'; so that the red will not bleed up through the new color.

Then you will need at least 2 coats of your new, lighter wall color. A good-quality paint should cover in 2 coats (again, ask at the counter about which kind to buy).

Red is the hardest color to achieve, and the most difficult to get rid of!

Be sure to let each coat of paint and primer dry thoroughly before you do the next. Ideally, you should leave the primer to dry at least overnight before you apply the wall color. Good Luck!
It won't be difficult at all. Simply apply one, perhaps two coats of primer and then your paint and there you have it!

I really like this primer, as it is water-based, easy to apply and has GREAT coverage...

What's harder to paint is red... so if ever you choose to paint red again (or yellow or purple or black), have your primer tinted to match your paint... But when going from dark or bright to lighter, then all you need is primer.
you need to use a product like Kilz to cover the red first or the red will show through no matter how many coats you put on; get the oil based and it will cover the red in one coat...let it dry completely (oil based takes longer) then paint with your light color
Not more difficult, just more time consuming.

You'll need at least 2 coats of lighter paint. If you have primer left over from previous work, then use it for the first coat so you won't spend need as much new paint.
PRIMER,PRIMER ,PRIMER. you have to cover it if your going lighter or it will effect the paint color .
I agree with everyone who said not to skimp on the primer. A good primer will save you MANY coats.

A how to sketch, water color, paint book in Chinese text?

I tried amazon, but they don't carry languages besides English, Spanish, German.A how to sketch, water color, paint book in Chinese text?
And here I am giving you Amazon. They do have an Amazon site for China - they aren't the same books. If you know a specific title, the one in the states may have a copy offered. I have sold a Chinese language book on Amazon before.

I can't read the Chinese site, but you can probably do a search and find what you want. Only problem is if you have to order from a Chinese vendor, since mailing time (depending on where you are) could take awhile.

You could also get the ISBN and title for a book you find if it meets your needs, check the Amazon site for it (closest to you) or even bookfinder, to see where others copies might be located. Good luck!

The walls and ceiling a light khaki, the color of the lightest stems in the print on your bedspread. Then use these colors as accents: http://www.carylldesigns.com/yarns/MC_wi鈥?/a> I would particularly look for some bleached denim throw pillows and something in the grapey-purple color for accents. Then I would try to find a throw rug or two that look like this: http://ny-image2.etsy.com/il_430xN.35554鈥?/a>HELP WITH PAINT COLORS! :]:]?

It lets you play with different colors of paint online.

It's always good to get a sample of paint, slap it on your wall, and see how it looks with different lighting as the day progresses.

It's hard to know what to recommend without knowing your personality and what you like. I think the key is to pick a color with a fair amount of gray it in like your puple has. You could do a silvery gray with a hint of lavender in it. A steely blue could be really nice too. Also, it would be nice to paint the ceiling in a white similar to the white of your comforter which would keep the feeling of the room more open.

The purple and blue is better for a bedroom, I think. Those colors are calming together. I'd add some celery green or black for accents. Before you paint, though, find bedding that you love and match it.
