I am in the process of giving my living room a make-over, what color paint goes well with red carpet?

the first thing you have to determine is whether or not this is a warm or cool red...you can tell very easily by putting something yellow or blue (say a towell, scarf, paper) on the carpet; if it seems to go well, or 'blend' with the yellow,it's a warm red; if it goes well with the blue, then it's a 'cool' red...this very important when selecting your wall color!!!! If you have, say a warm red, and you choose cool color for the walls, it will be a tremendous clash...and you may feel there's something just not right with the room, and not be able to figure out what it is, when all it is, is the color tones clash!! Believe me, I speak from experience.........have fun.........I am in the process of giving my living room a make-over, what color paint goes well with red carpet?
It depends on how you want the carpet to display in the room. For example if you used a white or cream paint the red carpet will become the focal point of the room. If you use a red tint or terracotta paint then the carpet will blend in and you can make the walls more of a focal point. A blue or dark color on the walls will give a seperation of layers to the room.

A good approach would be to first determine what type of furnature and other decor you want in the room then design around them so that the walls and carpet blend into your overall design.I am in the process of giving my living room a make-over, what color paint goes well with red carpet?
A creamy off white or a pale silver grey
Depending on how dark the carpet is, I would go with a pale peach shade or pale orange shade. It really depends on how dramatic you want the look of your place, but those are safe neutral shades that will match.
