Need advice on what color to paint dark living room with brown-grey fieldstone fireplace taking up one wall?

house is a split level and you can see other rooms from living room, so a too dark or bright color wouldn't workNeed advice on what color to paint dark living room with brown-grey fieldstone fireplace taking up one wall?
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think a color like ';tower tan'; (# 7704) would be perfect.Need advice on what color to paint dark living room with brown-grey fieldstone fireplace taking up one wall?
The obvious color would be an ivory or warm white. If you would like a little more color, but still keeping it light an option would be a very light sage green. Sherwin William's has a color called ';Drop Leaf'; which I think will look very nice in your living room. If you are interested in a very pale yellow, then a color called ';Chamomile'; would be an option. Is blue a color you like? This is an extremely light light blue called ';Timid Blue';. You can check these suggestions out and more by going to the Sherwin William's web site and then clicking on ';Color Your World';. It takes you to the color visualizer section, where you can choose a room and ';paint it';. Good luck!!!
I would suggest you take a digital snapshot of the wall next to the fireplace, go to an editing program and play with different tones on the computer - if you don't have that choice, take a regular snapshot, go to one of those stores where you can do an 8 x 10 shot, print it out and go to the paint store to pick some samples and put it together to see which one works best. I think if you want to brigthen up the room, you could go to a mix of white with a baby blue / light purple or a light green with a hint of yellow (you dont' want it to look like a hospital or swiming pool, but probably dont' want to go too white (unless you want a little twist and do a room that looks like a ';black and white'; movie (with whites, grays and blacks).
beige or suede faux painting, as long as it's light in color.
