I want to use oil colors to paint a picture. is it necessary to use mineral spirits to dap the brush in?

can regular water be used if not then what can be used with oil colors because my last picture was kinda hard to paint so im hoping there is something i can do when i use oil colors and if u have any techniques for how to use oil colors please please post themI want to use oil colors to paint a picture. is it necessary to use mineral spirits to dap the brush in?
no...oil and water do not mix. Some solvent (non water-based liquid like mineral spirits) is what you have to use. Water will just make the paint curdle and stay gummy.I want to use oil colors to paint a picture. is it necessary to use mineral spirits to dap the brush in?
use Liquin. It allows the paint to flow nicely to whatever consistency you like and will dry the oil painted area within 2 days.
yes Mineral spirits is the best to use try to buy it from Wal-Mart
