Whats the difference between acrylic paint and oil color?

Ok so i got a art set for christmas and i have done a lot with acrylic, but i haven't done much with oil color. so what is the difference?Whats the difference between acrylic paint and oil color?
Acrylic paint is plastic based and water soluble. Acrylics dry quickly and tend to be very opaque. Oil paints are a pigment mixed with linseed oil and have to be mixed with a medium like stand oil, damar varnish, and thinner. They take a very long time to dry, which opens up more possibilities for blending, but can be difficult to control. Oil paints are also more versatile in their opacity. Applied straight from the tube, they are very opaque, but they can also be thinned down into transparent glazes and applied in layers.Whats the difference between acrylic paint and oil color?
Oils are much more forgiving. Colors more vibrant, blend better, just a better medium. I paint with both and prefer oils hands down. Also, they do not take 4 years to dry. You can varnish an oil in 6 mo. to a year. It will be dry to the touch in a week or two.
acrylic is plastic.. oil is more natural.. of course the pigments might be made artificially too, but the oil in it gives it a natural feel.

The most common difference is that oils dry very slowly. They are touch dry .. is it.. from a week to two.. i might be mistaken.. cannot recall.. but an oil painting dries completely in around FOUR YEARS !!

Acrylics dry immediately.. and you can keep on painting over the previous layer... in oils you would have to wait to do so.. otherwise the colours will mix very very easily, probably even easier than acrylics.

you may thin oil paints with different oil.. most common linseed, poppy and walnut oil or thinners.. white spirit, turpentine.. petroleum..

to me oil colour seems to be softer.. and i've heard that the surface of a ready acrylic painting gets dirty easily.. oil paintings don't so much..
Acrylic drys faster and oil color takes longer. However, it depends on what kind of oils you have. There are regular oils and there are water mixable oils. I use water mixable oils and I love them, they dry fully in about 4 days. Oil paint isn't really any messier then acrylic, if you think about it all paint is some what messy. Any kind of oil paint is easier to work with then acrylic because it doesn't dry fast. With oil paints you can take your time and acrylics you need to work faster if you like to mix your colors a lot. That's just my opinion, but I like any kind of paint really. As long as I can paint I'm happy.
Oil base colors will need to be cleaned up with paint thinner , acrylic paint can be cleaned with just water ! and it is alot easier to work with , I have always used it . Oil base paint is a mess !
