What color to paint the laundry room?

I have this huge laundry room and it has a small round window and an entry door. I really want to paint it a dark color because everyone comes in that door and it they are muddy or if the dog is muddy it gets all over the walls and floor boards. I am also afraid that if I paint it too dark then the room will look really small! What to do?What color to paint the laundry room?
You might try this... I painted my room with two complimentary colors. On the top half I used ';Guest House'; by Benjamin Moore (a nice golden color) and on the bottom ';Tate Olive'; by Behr (a rich green). I then put up a simple chair rail to divide the two colors and painted it crisp white. I have found that by painting the lower portion of the wall a darker tone that it has definately camouflaged dirt, scuffs, etc., while keeping the color on the top half light, makes it vibrant and cheery (who doesn't need a little cheer to do laundry). Friends who pass through this area love the look!! My color palette is more on the traditional side so if your style is different, then tweek the colors to your liking. Keeping in mind - lighter on top, darker on the bottom! What color to paint the laundry room?
Paint it a Mocha color, not too dark, not too light= mud will blend in. :)
I think yellow, too. Something bright and sunny.

If you really need a darker color, try a mustard color. (still yellow!) You can accent with black.
I say Burgundy. It is not a bad color, not too dark, and it has a sense of elegance to it.
I agree with wwgirl63. It would be a very nice color, not too dark but inviting, calming.
Don't paint it dark!! That will show dirt/mud worse than white. I would go with an off white, antique white, or bone and trim with another appropriate color (if desired). The simpler you can keep it, the easier it will be to keep clean.
go with like a red or blue or black and to keep it from looking to small paint other things on the walls like shapes or get some runner wallpaper to put all around and hang it mid wall or a little higher to prevent from getting dirty.

ALSO something you could do would be to pick a dark color and fade it like start dark by the floor and start making it lighter going up keeping it darker where more dirt would show then lighter above where it doesnt get as dirty and in the lighter parts you could do a glaze with the blue or make it a pearlized blue to shimmer or you could texture it with a sponge or apply the color and rag it off make it look kinda like clouds but those ideas should help get ya going hope i helped
pain t it blue
i would paint it white with a nice border
Maybe paint it a nice dark green but lighten it up by painting a white boarder so it doesn't make the room look too small.
Sure, you can paint a dark color and it shouldn't make the room look small. Some other ideas would be to paint a nice medium brown - which should hide mud nicely until you get around to cleaning it, or you could also put up chair rail or a wallpaper border and paint under it a dark color and above it a lighter color...
dark colors do not always make a room look small, but just as an idea what about two tone walls with a chair rail dividing the halves, using the darker color on the bottom half of the walls, and llighter on top, that way the lower section is dark enough to hide mud splatter, and the top section is lighter to keep the room light, i suggest that you choose a color the flows well with the connecting room, and use the same color in a lightened version on top. also, choose a satin finish instead of flat wall paint, this is easier to care for.
maybe consider paneling- that way it can be a dark color- but washes off eaily too.
I would use a dark sage. it's warm and not to dark!
One word with 6 letters! YELLOW!!!!!
