I think a light creamy color like ';kestrel white'; (# 7516) would definitely give the room a brighter, airier quality. But if you want to highlight the pine a bit, you could do a blue like ';aleutian'; (# 6241), and that would add a modern feel to it.

I would think any of the pastels would go nicely. Go for contrast with whatever furniture is in the room. Makes it comfortable.
